Plusieurs des grands musiciens d’Afrique de l’Ouest sont des griots perp\u00e9tuant la tradition de leurs anc\u00eatres, chanteurs de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration en g\u00e9n\u00e9ration des g\u00e9n\u00e9alogies et des louanges des cours royales et des familles nobles de l’ancien empire Mandingue qui s\u2019\u00e9tendait entre le Sahara et la for\u00eat \u00e9quatoriale, l’oc\u00e9an Atlantique et la boucle du Niger soit sur les actuels Mali, Burkina Faso, S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, Gambie, Guin\u00e9e, Guin\u00e9e-Bissau, Mauritanie et la C\u00f4te d’Ivoire. Apr\u00e8s plus d’une ann\u00e9e pass\u00e9e au Qu\u00e9bec et au Mexique, Paul Couvreur tire le portrait, dans ses compositions,\u00a0d’un moment ou d\u2019un lieu, v\u00e9cu ou r\u00eav\u00e9, et transcrit les \u00e9motions qui les accompagnent.\u00a0<\/span>Pour jouer cette musique, le guitariste fait appel \u00e0 des musiciens cr\u00e9atifs et polyvalents, compagnons de longue date, qui \u00e0 chaque concert se r\u00e9inventent pour partager ces images sonores avec le public : J\u00e9r\u00e9mie Lucchese au saxophone t\u00e9nor, George Storey \u00e0 la contrebasse et Malo Evrard \u00e0 la batterie. <\/span>Les influences du groupe sont aussi vari\u00e9es que les sensations qu’il d\u00e9crit. Consid\u00e9rant Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter et John Coltrane comme des phares spirituels et artistiques, les quatre musiciens se passionnent aussi pour leurs contemporains Mark Turner, Keith Jarrett et Kurt Rosenwinkel.\u00a0<\/span>Par ailleurs tr\u00e8s sensibles \u00e0 la musique qui d\u00e9crit les grands espaces, ils jouent \u00e9galement des chansons simples et \u00e9pur\u00e9es, s’inspirant\u00a0du minimalisme de la Folk ou de la Pop.\u00a0<\/span>Leur premier EP, Cr\u00e9puscule, est pr\u00e9vu pour septembre 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s cinq ann\u00e9es en quatuor, Le Skeleton Band redevient trio et nous invite dans une musique o\u00f9 bruissements, chuchotements et hurlements sont convoqu\u00e9s. Ce cinqui\u00e8me disque m\u00eale folk, post-rock et blues d\u2019une mani\u00e8re baroque. Il exprime les espaces int\u00e9rieurs propre \u00e0 chaque \u00eatre humain par le son, mais aussi comment ses espaces int\u00e9rieurs r\u00e9sonnent dans notre rapport au monde ext\u00e9rieur. Nous cherchons la lumi\u00e8re dans l\u2019ombre et inversement. Notre musique est parfois recueillie, voire lugubre pour permettre aux moments soniques, solaires de se r\u00e9v\u00e9ler avec plus d\u2019intensit\u00e9. Un cinqui\u00e8me album qui fait corps avec l\u2019identit\u00e9 et la parole du groupe.<\/p>\n
